The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is an Examination board that conducts the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) that is required for Admission into any higher institution in Nigeria.
According to the 2018 August/September WAEC Timetable, The Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) GCE 2018 Biology 2 & 1 (Essay & Objectives) is scheduled on Tuesday 4th September 2018 as follows;
Tuesday, 4th September 2018
Biology 2 (Essay) – 9:30 am. – 11:10 am.
Biology 1 (Objective) – 11:10 am. – 12:00 p.m.

Please make sure you read the instructions given on the question paper carefully before you begin to answer any question. Below is how WAEC GCE Biology question is set;
There will be three papers: papers 1, 2 and 3, all to be taken. Papers 1 and 2 are merged in one session.
PAPER 1: Will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions drawn from section A of the curriculum (the part of the curriculum common to all countries). It carries 50 marks and lasts 50 minutes.
PAPER 2: Will consist of six (6) essay questions from the entire syllabus. The paper is divided into three sections, sections A, B, and C.
Section A: Will consist of four questions from section A of the syllabus.
Section B: Is only for candidates in Ghana and taken from section B of the curriculum (ie the section of the curriculum that is typical for Ghana). It will consist of short structured questions.
Section C: Determined for candidates in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Liberia, and taken from section C of the syllabus (ie, the section of the syllabus containing material only for those countries). It will also consist of short structured questions.
Candidates are expected to answer two (2) questions from Section A and all the brief questions from Section B or Section C.
Each question in Section A carries 20 marks, while the compulsory short-text questions in Section B and C carry 30 marks. The total score is 70 marks. The paper would last for 1 hour 40 minutes.
PAPER 3: Will be a practice test (for school candidates) or a practical test (for private candidates) that lasts 2 hours and consists of three sections: Sections A, B, and C.
Section A: This consists of two compulsory questions from section A of the syllabus, each with 25 points.
Section B: This will only be for candidates in Ghana. It consists of a question from section B of the syllabus and carries 30 points.
Section C: This will be for candidates in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia. It consists of a question from section C of the syllabus and carries 30 points.
Candidates are expected to answer all the questions in Section A and a question in Section B or C. The paper will carry a total of 80 marks.
